The interior of the existing shell building is renovated to include open-air working areas as well as enclosed office space, a reception area, break rooms, and large training rooms. Additionally, the space is upfitted with a test kitchen to try out the company’s newest and upcoming dishes. The loft-style design of the interior and modern comfortable furnishings provide a warm, uplifting space different from traditional office spaces for the team to produce their best work.
As is occasionally the case with adaptive reuse construction projects, the existing warehouse had a few challenging conditions beneath the surface. Due to an old leak in the building, the concrete slab had been undermined and nearly washed away in some places, leaving the slab to “float” in some areas. To re-establish a firm foundation, the project team worked quickly to pressure-grout the slab and restore structural stability. Having worked on a number of adaptive reuse projects, the team was able to quickly recognize potential obstacles an older building may present and craft an action plan to keep the project moving on schedule.

The loft-style design of the interior and modern comfortable furnishings provide a warm, uplifting space different from traditional office spaces for the tenant teams to produce their best work. The design intent of this corporate construction project was to create a welcoming environment, reminiscent of a home kitchen, that breeds comfortability, familiarity, and sparks innovation in a relaxed setting.
