Movement Foundation adds a second campus to serve the east Charlotte community. A vacant, single-story retail building is repurposed with a complete transformation of the exterior façade and full interior renovation. A two-story, steel-framed addition clad with EIFS and ACM paneling brings the new charter school to life. A large cafe/gym, complete with stage, serving kitchen, and moveable basketball hoops, offers flexibility for the school. Engaging classrooms and a relaxing teachers’ lounge provide the optimal space for personalized instruction and academics.

Rally Charlotte aims to leverage social capital for a brighter future through youth sports, mentoring, education, health, and cultural programs. Partnering with Movement Foundation, Choate constructs a 48,000-SF charter school and community center. The facility includes secure school environments, middle school classrooms with science labs, community rooms with a teaching kitchen, and a gymnasium and fitness center. The 14,000-SF gym features basketball goals, retractable bleachers, hardwood flooring, scoreboards, and locker rooms.

Renovation of an existing office building into a charter elementary school serving students in PK - 5th grade. The project entails a near-complete interior demolition of the existing conditions to facilitate the transformation of space into a fully functioning academic facility. The renovated building will include classrooms, a combined auditorium and gymnasium, a media center, library, cafeteria, conference rooms, and administrative offices.

Construction for Movement Bellhaven involves construction of a 40,000 SF academic building on the existing campus. Despite the existing school remaining open and fully operational during construction, safety was a top priority. The Choate team implemented solutions to navigate student safety and manage pick-up and drop-off procedures, ensuring a smooth transition for the school’s staff.

Movement Schools makes its South Carolina debut with the fast-tracked demolition and transformation of an office building into an innovative learning environment. The campus features 22 classrooms, five administrative offices, a dedicated Nurse’s Room, a cafeteria, gymnasium, and a serving kitchen. Polished and stained concrete floors span nearly the entire interior, creating a resilient, contemporary space that supports the growth and energy of this thriving new community.

Choate's first project with Movement Foundation, Movement School Freedom Drive, involved the transformation of a former 99,270-SF big-box store into a supportive K–5 learning environment in an underserved community. Renovations include a new façade, updated parking, classrooms, administrative areas, a library, cafeteria, kitchen, and a gymnasium that doubles as an auditorium with a stage. Durable finishes and expanded kitchen capacity support the school’s future growth.
