Choate Partners with ACE Mentor Program of Greater Charleston

This spring, Choate’s Charleston team joined the ACE Mentorship Program, directly engaging with local high school students to educate, inspire, and Build Up the future generation of industry leaders. Choate served as a “Friends of ACE CHS” sponsor and participated in various events throughout the spring semester.

The ACE Mentorship program serves to promote and introduce students to careers within the AEC industry as well as the entire process behind producing successful construction projects.

Offering real-world insights into architecture, engineering, and construction careers and facilitating tours of active projects, the program allowed students to learn in-depth about the entire construction process, from designing to budgeting, scheduling, and building projects to scale.

At the culmination of the program, students had the opportunity to transform ideas into reality, presenting their own projects in a competition to showcase all they learned in design, planning, and budgeting with a scholarship awarded to the best overall.

About the ACE Mentor Program of Greater Charleston

Founded in 2012, The ACE Mentor Program of Greater Charleston is South Carolina’s first affiliate of the national nonprofit ACE Program and is currently active during the spring semester at local high schools. Teams meet every other week for an hour and a half during the school day. Student teams work directly with industry professionals from the area’s leading firms, who volunteer their time to mentor the students as they design hypothetical projects, tour local construction sites, and visit architectural, engineering, and construction offices.
