Choate Celebrates 10 Years of OneLife Safety Identity

Ten years ago, Choate Construction set out to redefine what safety means in the construction industry. A superintendent in one of the planning meetings said, “You know, you only get one life. You don’t get to hit reset. All the work, all the deadlines—they mean nothing if we don’t make it home.” From that moment, OneLife became the heartbeat of who we are.

This simple yet profound truth is something we believe needs to be protected at all costs. What began as a safety identity quickly became something much greater: a defining part of who we are as employee-owners, teammates, and human beings.

The Heart Behind the Helmet

The “why” behind OneLife has always been deeply personal. It’s the faces we go home to, the teammates we stand beside, and the belief that every life has immeasurable value. In our 10th Anniversary video, we hear from employee-owners, trade partners, and spouses reflecting on what living OneLife means to them. Their stories remind us that safety isn’t a rulebook; it’s a reflection of love, respect, and community.

A Safety Culture Rooted in Care

OneLife is a collective promise—a shared mindset that unites us in protecting one another, on every jobsite and in every moment. From the first-day orientation to leadership meetings and daily safety huddles, the OneLife message has remained clear: safety isn’t just about compliance; it’s about compassion.

Over the past decade, that message has transformed the way we work and live. Our people have championed new training programs, embraced innovative technology, and taken ownership of their responsibility not just to themselves, but to every person who depends on them – at work and at home.

Looking Ahead: The Next 10 Years

As we celebrate this milestone, we also look forward. We will continue to strengthen our safety culture, innovate, educate, and lead by example. The next decade of OneLife will build on a foundation of trust, empowerment, and purpose, ensuring that every employee-owner, trade partner, and client feels the impact of this commitment.

Here’s to 10 years of OneLife and to protecting what matters most for generations to come.
